Topic:    Tips on Getting and Keeping a Job in Today’s Economy  

Speaker:  Wes Hicks, Chris Hawk; may be joined by Brent Glasgow and Stan Olson

Abstract: 

Open discussion with regard to: job search techniques (internships and full time positions), what you should know BEFORE you go into an interview, do’s and don’ts of telephone and in-person interviews, what is needed to (1) get a job and (2) keep a job,  how to work with non-engineers, and more.

Speaker Bio – Wes Hicks

Wes Hicks is the President and founder of G2 Technology.  He started his career 13 years ago on the ground floor of a multi-billion dollar firm as an Information Technology Recruiter.  Through various transfers / promotions, he eventually became the Regional Vice President of their consulting practice in the Southeast United States.  Realizing the need for a highly specialized staffing firm, Wes launched G2 technology in 2004.  G2 Technology is the leading provider of Application Developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers on a contract and permanent basis in Memphis, TN.

Speaker Bio – Chris Hawk

Chris Hawk is a Staff Recruiter and Program Coordinator at Youth Villages, the nation’s leading private provider of intensive social services to at-risk youth and their families.  He graduated from the University of Memphis in December 2007 with a BLS in Business and Public Relations from the University College.  Chris has a passion for networking with college students to talk career advice and for showing jobseekers how social networking can play a role in the job hunt.
